The Newcastle Speakers Club

About us
The club was formed in January 2000 to fill a need for public speaking skills in Newcastle. Since then we've gone from strength to strength, with members representing a wide range of backgrounds and interests. Much of the credit for the club's original inception must go to businessmen Tony Samway and Roy Duffy, who continue to provide support and inspiration.
The club is run on a day to day basis by an elected core committee of four newer members. These office bearers progress upwards every six months, gaining valuable management skills and experience. The rest of the committee is made up of elected critics, the Critic Emeritus Tony Samway, and the previously retired president, who attends meetings for six months after leaving office.
